Folky, miniature watercolor entitled "SAVED" and depicting a young girl with her basket, resting under a tree, and unbeknownst, a dog has protected her by killing a large snake. There is a humorous contrast between the endearing little girl in repose holding a pink flower and the prowling dog holding the bleeding snake in his teeth. The watercolor is titled, signed by T. Biggs and dated 1856 at the bottom of the oval. On paper and it remains in its original maple frame with a sanded, oval gold mat.

Excellent condition.
