An interesting form, the Whale End shelf takes its name from the distinctive shape of the side pieces. These were generally made in coastal New England towns and used to display whaling artifacts and collections. This is a very good mahogany example with excellent lines that do justice to the silouhette of a whale. The height of the shelves of this one vary, making for an interesting display of objects. Made in New England, circa 1840. Very sturdy and with a good finish.

Excellent condition.
